The Kansas House on Tuesday approved a bill that would allow bikers to run a red light if the signal "fails" to turn green after a "reasonable period of time."

The more states we can cite as precedents, the better it will be.

I have to say, though, I still think we should research how many tickets are given for running a red light before we begin this quest.  For that I need to plumb some database, and I'm afraid that information won't be available.  In the case that it isn't, I'll just have to poll separate law enforcement agencies.  I need to come up with some way to do it.  I'll look at that while I'm making up my legislator poll. Meanwhile, let me know of any rider who has gotten a ticket for running a red light that wouldn't change.

Thank you for keeping an eye on this issue!  I think we need to move or at least define an official stance on this issue this year.

Check this.  It's Georgia's take on this same issue.
